Roscosmos showed a photo of the eruption of the Shiveluch volcano in the Kamchatka Territory (Russia). The volcano had previously spewed two ash columns 8 and 8.5 km high. Satellites allow monitoring the situation with the eruption of the Shiveluch volcano in the Kamchatka Territory. This is reported in the Telegram channel of Roscosmos.
The state corporation shared a picture of the eruption taken from the Meteor-M satellite. "Roscosmos satellites are monitoring the volcanic eruption in the Kamchatka Territory. Last week, the Shiveluch volcano spewed two ash columns 8 and 8.5 km high. The last activity of the volcano was observed in November 2024," the report says.
Shiveluch is an active volcano in Kamchatka, its age is 60-70 thousand years. It consists of the Old Shiveluch volcano, the ancient caldera and the active Young Shiveluch volcano. The volcano is located at a distance of about 50 km from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district and 450 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
