First Circular of 35th International Geological Congress was published, that will be scheduled for August 27 – September 4, 2016 in Cape Town (South Africa). The Geological Congress is one of the world’s oldest scientific conferences, and the premier event of the earth science calendar, providing the forum for ample debate on all significant advances in the earth sciences. Since 1878 International Geological Congresses have been held every four years with a rotating venue in different countries of the world. The purpose of the congress is the promotion of new ideas, developments, technological achievements and improvements in the field of Earth sciences.  

Since 1996 (30th Congress in Beijing), an independent Section of Geoethics operates within the framework of International Geological Congresses. On August 7, 2012 the official business meeting of the AGID international Working Group of Geoethics has decided to establish a new International Association for Geoethics (IAGETH). July 7 2014, the International Association for Geoethics - IAGETH  was  affiliated to the  International Union of Geological Sciences – IUGS. Geoethical section of the Russian Geological Society as a national branch is part of the IAGETH since its inception on 34 International Geological Congress (August 7, 2012).
