Environmental remedial actions of the season in 2013 are being completed on the Franz Josef Land Islands Federal Reserve. Particularly in order to prevent environmental disaster the pollution clean-up on the island Greem-Bell has been completed. As a result of climate change was the erosion of the shore, on which the abandoned oil stores were located. And hundreds of thousands tons of oil could dump into the Barents Sea. 8 thousand tonnes of the garbage were picked up. Those waste will be carried on the mainland by ship "Blue Spirit" belonging to AKS and sent to recycling. "The recycling return money will be steered to the federal budget by the contractor," - say the director of the Russian Arctic National Park Roman Ershov.

80 people were involved to eliminate the environmental damage on the island Greem-Bell. Special teams were formed for scrap-metal drive and pressing metal structures and barrel-rolls. In season 2013 total 120 people were involved in the elimination of environmental damage on the Franz Josef Land Islands Federal Reserve – islands Greem-Bell, Zemlya Aleksandry, Gukera.  637 million rubles ($21 millions) were appropriated for the pollution clean-up on the islands.

The Russian Arctic National Park was a customer to operate the pollution clean-up, and the Federal State research institution "Council for the Study of Productive Forces", Freight Forwarding Company "Arctic Consulting Service" (AKS), the Expeditionary Center of the Russian Geographical Society were as contractors.  The Federal State Unitary Scientific&Production Company for Marine Geological Prospecting (the State Sevmorgeo Company) coordinated environmental remedial actions.
